Rain Barrel Program
The Town of Barnstable has partnered with The Great American Rain Barrel Company to offer an opportunity for residents to purchase re-purposed rain barrels. Collect and reuse rainwater from your roof to provide a clean, untreated water source for gardening and reduce your water bills.
The Great American Rain Barrel produces 100% re-purposed, food grade, UV protected and BPA free barrels as a tool for collecting rainwater from roofs and gutters to conserve water and reduce stormwater runoff. The rain barrels are produced in Massachusetts and are available for $80 or $89, depending on color.
Rain barrels are a great tool to conserve water, especially during the summer months with seasonal drought. The barrels collect the water that runs off the rooftops of buildings by way of a gutter or downspout. The water collected can be used for watering gardens or lawns or for household chores such as washing cars or windows reducing household water bills. By collecting the water that runs off the rooftops, rain barrels are an effective way to reduce stormwater runoff, conserve water, and support the health of our local waterways. Together, we can create a greener future for Barnstable.
