Road Work - Route 28 (Falmouth Road) Near Bearse’s Way

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) has begun their roadway improvements for the ‘Route 28 Intersection Improvements at Bearse’s Way’ as scheduled. The next phase of work will begin January 30th and end February 10th in the eastbound lane of Route 28 between 267 & 307 Falmouth Road. Starting January 30, 2017, the eastbound lane of Route 28 will be detoured at the intersection of Route 28 and Bearse’s Way.  Traffic will be directed south on Bearse’s Way, then directed northeast up Walton Avenue. The end of the detour will occur as traffic migrates back to Route 28. Traffic to local businesses will be allowed access. Traffic during construction operations will be delayed and motorists are advised to seek alternate routes to avoid the construction work. The work hours will be between the hours of 6:30 AM and 4:00 PM. As always, please slow down and use extreme caution when traveling through the road construction areas and detour routes and follow posted safety and detour signs.

BHS and JFK:  Artistically Honoring Our Past

On Tuesday, February 7th, at 5:00 PM in the main lobby of Barnstable High School, Abby Fay’s Fine Arts III students will host an art reception displaying artwork inspired by a recent visit to the JFK Museum on Main Street in Hyannis.  Museum Education Director Jennifer Pappalardo and Executive Director John Allen took the class on a behind the scenes tour of the museum where students not only learned about the life and times of the Kennedy family but also saw firsthand what it took to curate and exhibit a successful and cohesive show. Students then took what they gleaned from that day to create an original artwork based on any aspect of the personal and political life of JFK or his family members to which the students were personally connected.  This exhibit is completely curated by the students; they made choices about the artwork, text, artifacts, and photographs from the JFK Museum displayed in the show.
